Fresno & Clovis, CA

Dog training that grades on progress, not perfection.

PetMentora pairs your dog with one dedicated mentor and a written curriculum, so you always know what's being taught, why, and what comes next — with a short progress note after every session.

The orientation call is free — a short conversation about your dog before you commit to a program.

The curriculum

Three modules, one syllabus per dog

We don't run every dog through the same script. Your orientation call and placement visit tell us which module fits — and the syllabus explains exactly what's covered and why.

M1

Puppy Foundations

For puppies and newly adopted dogs, roughly 8 weeks to 6 months. The groundwork every later module builds on.

  • Name recognition & focus games
  • Crate comfort & house-training
  • Bite inhibition & early socialization
4 sessionsIn-home
M2

Good Citizen Track

For dogs with the basics down who need everyday manners: a loose leash, a real "stay," and calm greetings at the door.

  • Sit, down, stay, come
  • Loose-leash walking
  • Greeting manners & guest etiquette
6 sessionsIn-home or group
M3

Independent Study

For dogs ready to work off-leash: reliable recall at distance and calm behavior around real distractions in public.

  • Distance recall & release cues
  • Distraction-proofing in public
  • Off-leash reliability drills
8 sessions + 2 check-insIn-home & field

From first call to graduation day

STEP 01

Free orientation call

Fifteen minutes on the phone about your dog's age, history, and what's not working right now.

STEP 02

Placement visit

Your mentor observes your dog at home and recommends the module that fits — not just the one that's next in line.

STEP 03

Syllabus issued

A written plan naming the module, session count, and a realistic timeline for your dog specifically.

STEP 04

Weekly sessions

Hands-on coaching for you, plus a short written progress note after every visit.

STEP 05

Graduation check-in

A follow-up visit 30 days after the program ends, to confirm the skills held up in everyday life.

Our approach

Mentorship, not a one-off lesson

  • One mentor, start to finish

The same trainer works with your dog through the whole module — no rotating instructors, no relearning your dog's history.

  • Notes home, every time

A short written recap after each session: what we covered, what to practice, what's next — so nothing depends on memory.

  • You're graded on the syllabus

Progress is measured against the written plan for your dog, not a generic milestone chart.

  • Straight talk, always

If your dog needs more time, or a vet or veterinary behaviorist involved first, we say so at the orientation call — not partway through a paid module.

Questions before you enroll

My dog is reactive or anxious around other dogs — can you help?+
Often, yes — tell us about it on the orientation call so we can recommend a realistic starting point. For dogs with a bite history or signs of an underlying medical issue, we'll also recommend looping in your veterinarian or a veterinary behaviorist alongside the curriculum.
Do you guarantee results?+
We don't grade on a curve when it comes to promises — every dog progresses at its own pace, based on temperament and how much practice happens between sessions. What we do commit to: a written syllabus, a progress note after every session, and mentor support until the module is genuinely complete.
What methods and tools do you use?+
Every dog starts with reward-based teaching. Any additional tool is discussed with you directly and only introduced after we've explained why it's being considered for your specific dog.
What's your service area?+
Fresno, Clovis, and nearby communities within about 20 miles. Call ahead and we'll confirm your address is in range before booking a placement visit.
What does it cost?+
Single sessions start at $99. Full module packages, billed up front, start at $460. Your exact price depends on your dog's needs and the session count in the syllabus — the orientation call includes a specific quote.
